How to cycle safely and confidently in the world's most bike-friendly city.
Amsterdam has more bikes than people (1 million bikes, 900,000 residents). Cycling is the single best way to experience the city. We offer free bikes for guests - just ask via the chat or at check-in. Key rules: always use designated bike lanes (the red-paved paths), ring your bell to warn pedestrians, lock your bike securely to a fixed object, and follow traffic signals. Never cycle on tram rails - your wheel can get stuck. The bike network connects every neighborhood effortlessly. Our top cycling route: canal ring → Vondelpark → Museum District → De Pijp → back along the Amstel river.
